Engineer Regiment, of the 1
st
Infantry Division, during World War I. Staring off with the formation of the unit, traveling across the oceans, and traveling to the front lines.
The 1
st
Infantry Division had five campaign bars on their World War I Victory medal, they saw a lot of combat during the war. Their first sector was in Toul followed by the capture of Cantigny in May 1918.
The next epic battle was at Soissons July, followed by the assault on the St. Mihiel, and lastly with the terrible battles of the Argonne Forrest and the Meuse River.
There are loads of details and maps of these battles.
Included are rosters of all of the officers, and a listing of ALL of
the decorations unit by the regiment. Plus a really nice section on the orders and unit awards of the division.
The book ends with the last 50 plus pages listing out ALL of the members of the regiment with annotations, where appropriate, of KIA, WIA, awards, gassed, severely WIA, Missing, and Shell Shock.
