Farmall MD, SMD, SMDTA Char Lynn power steering #492 spacer

Description

One, new, remanufactured, power steering torque generator #492 spacer for Char Lynn power steering units mounted on a Farmall MD, SMD or SMDTA. This spacer adds 7/8" to the distance between the torque generator and the gauge mounting bracket. This spacer also allows for the Char Lynn unit to be rotated so the hose manifold is on the bottom and not on the side and hitting the back of the gauges or hitting the Diesel lever. This factory spacer from Char Lynn was in their original kits for the MD, SMD and SMDTA. On those Diesel units, the Diesel lever goes through the gauge bracket and you cannot put a Char Lynn unit on a Diesel M without this spacer. Check out my photos taken from an original Char Lynn manual and you can see what I mean. The hoses port block needs to be under the unit on a Diesel to clear the mechanisms. IT IS MY ASSUMPTION, that this item will work on gas models too if you just want to rotate the unit to get the hoses out of the way of the gauges.
This spacer was put in the original Char Lynn kit K-421-C if you had a S-101 with A-D suffix. This spacer was also used in the Char Lynn kit K1-403-H if you had a S-101-F unit. All parts on this spacer kit match Char Lynn Specs in exact detail. Check your parts manual if you have questions or concerns. Made in the USA. The red torque generator and the red mounting bracket in the photos does NOT come with the spacer kit. It is for reference purposes. The kit is one spacer and three socket head cap screws.
