    Description

    Straight from our brass
    (and silver) instrument
repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked.  Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in
    good playable
condition.  For the collector who is looking for an instrument; we try to keep the original parts whenever possible; if the playability is good, we feel it should be left to the buyer's discretion to replace parts as desired.  We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale.
We have tried to describe it as it is, and have shown what we can in the pictures allowed. We are happy to answer any questions asked.

Up for sale is a 1946 The OLDS Standard made by FE Olds and Son Tenor Trombone-made in Los Angeles Calif. The horn has serial #161xx and is in great condition, except residual rippling on the tuning crook after repair.  The horn is made of yellow brass and solid nickel silver. There are very few  dings on the instrument and no visible pitting at the grips. The slide action is very good and it has duo-octagonal tubes; fluted slide tubes on this post WWII instrument--I tried to show the fluting in the up-close slide picture. The stockings are excellent and there is excellent compression.
This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish)
.  The slide bore is .485/.500 and the bell flare is 7 1/2".  The Standard Olds line of trombones was introduced in about 1932 and soon became legendary...a great jazz horn, but able to play ballad and concert.  This horn has a good sweet tone when needed, but has tons of power with good intonation and quick response--would be a great jazz lead. It comes with a mouthpiece (that may not be the one pictured) and a used case.  Thanks for looking and check out our other items!
